The Product Developer rank, also known as [PDV], is the rank given to all members who are currently involved with developing for Stepford County Railway.

The rank replaced the [HPD] (Head of Product Development) role, supposedly so that more people could have the role rather than a single person. This position is for people that improve and create new content for the game (e.g. trains, scenery). In addition, this rank, unlike its predecessor, is not a managerial position.

The members of this rank do not have anything to do with the operational departments. Prior to 31 October 2023, members of this rank reported to the Innovations Director, since the aforementioned date they report to the directorate as a whole.

Members of this rank are hired through the Roblox Talent Hub if a position is available, as well as previously on the Roblox Developer Forum.

History

Previously, Product Developers were not recruited publicly; however, on 18 September 2020, BanTech posted a recruitment notice on the Roblox Developer Forum, looking for a Product Developer specialised in mesh modelling to upgrade trains.[1] aeroware was hired.

Another public recruitment occurred on 18 April 2021, where BanTech again, was looking for another mesh modeller to upgrade the fleet.[2] LetsGamingYT was hired.

On 7 September 2021, BanTech was looking for another Product Developer specialising in UX design.[3]

Then, on 6 February 2022, BanTech opened yet another Product Developer position for a part-time Roblox Luau Scripter.[4]

On 31 October 2023, along with the restructuring of the Developers department, this rank was renamed to simply Developer. The rank's handle was changed to DV for a short time, before being reverted to PDV. The Head of Brand Design rank was also merged into this rank. In addition, the management of this rank was transferred from the Innovations Director to the Technical Lead rank.

On 25 February 2024, the Technical Lead rank was rebranded to Game Developer, and the Developer rank was changed back to Product Developer.
