SCR Leaks was a group known for leaking info and models for upcoming SCR versions. The group was established in late 2019 while sneak peeks were being published for Version 1.4. SCR Leaks was officially dissolved in Spring 2021.

History

Beginning

The group was founded by asyncyeet in October 2019, joined by two other founders called FikayoTomori and Magnetic_Aviator after the trio found a loophole into the "SCR Development" game. After they found a loophole, the trio started SCR Leaks and began uploading pictures and videos of what they had found over a couple of weeks on X (then Twitter) and on a Discord server. The amount of people viewing these leaks began to increase rapidly.

1.4 leaks

In late October 2019, the group uploaded videos that showcased the entire V1.4 update. These videos amassed thousands of views from SCR fans. They also released a video showing the new announcements.

In November 2019, the group decided to put the whole ROBLOX studio file into a playable game on ROBLOX itself - which featured all of the stations, trains and scenery and allowed users to look around the trains and stations. The game had hundreds of concurrent players at its peak of users who wanted to see the new update and who felt disheartened by the lack of updates from SCR themselves.

In December 2019, the then-owner of SCR, Charlie_RBX denounced SCR Leaks and said they were "only in it for their personal benefit". He also announced the cancellation of the annual sneak peek advent calendar. The owner of SCR Leaks, asyncyeet, claimed he had a voice call with him but that no agreement was found.

In late December 2019, SCR Version 1.4 was released.

Post-1.4

After 1.4, the group were still active - using a system in their Discord for low-medium-high in terms of the size of their leaks. This caused constant instability after the group leaked the newly developed trains from a private screenshare call with an anonymous person, as well as rumours circulating that the train developers were considering resigning. They also reported that the Operations Director was on resignation watch too.

In June 2020, they released screenshots of then-Relations (Community) Director cg7033 being inappropriate in the staff channels of SCR. cg7033 resigned and deactivated his X (then Twitter) account.

During this time, the SCR server was locked down, which caused an influx of members going into SCR Leaks.

1.6 leak

In late June 2020, the group leaked the entire map confirming new routes, trains and stations. They published these pictures and just 11 minutes later, the SCR game was rebooted with SCR Version 1.6 - however many players were complaining about game-breaking bugs and crashes. Rumours started to circulate that BanTech had rushed the update out due to the leaks.

Post-1.6

In late 2020, the group published a private development roadmap, which showed many features that were planned to be added into the game. The legitimacy of this map was questioned and it remains unknown if the map leaked was real.

Reception

Many users supported SCR Leaks, with some calling out others who did not share the support by calling them "fanboys". Others criticised the trio and showed a heavy dislike against them.

A number of former supervisors became fans of the trio after resignation and had a certain support and role to it, while the active staff opposed the group.

Controversy and breakdown

In early 2021, after running a live voice Q&A with former Product Developer OverheadWires, the group saw heavy criticism. After publishing a leak of all of the staff's birthdays on a calendar, many people regarded this as "too far." FikayoTomori and Magnetic_Aviator announced their resignation, and the following day, asyncyeet announced his resignation saying that he knew "the gig was up", and the group was disbanded.

Legacy

Many people and groups have tried to recreate the vast success of numbers that SCR Leaks had, but to no great avail. To date, there are no SCR leaking groups in existence.
