The Driving Department is a department of the Supervisor rank, overseeing both Trainee Drivers and Qualified Drivers. This department involves assisting with the training of new Qualified Drivers as well as keeping the game running smoothly, for which they are given moderation permissions in-game.
Before the Supervisor unification, this department was previously its own rank known as Lead Driver (then formerly Leading Driver), bearing the initials [LD]. It was the only Supervisor rank with a two-letter abbreviation, as other Supervisor roles had three-letter abbreviations.
Driving Department Supervisors are able to co-host Dispatcher, Guard and Practical Signaller trainings, along with hosting and co-hosting Qualified Driver trainings.
This application is currently closed.
Obtaining the rank
The following is required in order to apply for this department:
- Be 13 years old or older
- Be in the SCR official Roblox group and be in the official Discord server
- Be ranked Qualified Driver or higher
- Own/be willing to open a ClickUp, Google, Roblox, and Discord account, all with two-factor authentication enabled
- Be able to attend the minimum amount of trainings required (stated on the application)
- Be able to play SCR on a desktop device or a personal computer to conduct trainings smoothly with a reliable internet connection
If applicants meet the requirements, there are a few steps to becoming fully qualified as a Supervisor:
- Pass an application for the Driving Department. They open at the discretion of the Driver Managers and users are informed in #application-forms in the Discord server.
- If accepted, users go through a training programme that is not entirely disclosed to the public. However, it is known that part of the training included taking quizzes and hosting and co-hosting Qualified Driver trainings.
- After passing the training programme, the new Supervisor officially becomes qualified for this department.

Trivia
- Before V1.5, Lead Drivers could not dispatch or signal even if they were trained before. Guarding was not present in the game at the time.
- This rank has the lowest acceptance rate out of all Supervisor departments because it has the lowest rank requirement (Qualified Driver) and has many applicants as a result. In addition, Qualified Driver trainings do not need as many staff as Dispatcher and Guard trainings, so less Supervisors in the Driving Department are needed and accepted for the role.
- Starting in 2023, multiple-choice theory was embedded into the application. To continue to the Application Reader stage, the applicant needs to get a certain number of the multiple-choice answers correct to be sent to the application readers. This is done to considerably reduce the number of applications the App Readers have to read and to speed up the application reading process.
