Points are the main currency used in Stepford County Railway. They are used to purchase most trains and all routes. They were introduced in The Big Update, replacing gamepasses that required players to pay Robux to unlock a train.
Ways to obtain
Driving
Driving is the most commonly used way to get points, with the driver getting five points for every station they stopped at, unless they overshot the platform. A bonus five points are awarded for completing the route at its terminus. Driving with a Guard will earn the driver an additional five points per station as well.
To get points fast, many players use one of the following two methods.
- Depot grinding, in which the player spawns at a depot close to a terminus, drives there, terminates and then despawns before repeating the cycle. Every run will give the player ten points. The best way to depot grind is spawning at train at Willowfield Carriage Sidings towards Willowfield, terminate and repeat, and this can award at most 480 points per hour.
- Driving Waterline and Metro which have shorter distances between stations, allowing for more points to be gained in a shorter amount of time.

Dispatching
Dispatching trains is another way to earn points. The player can only dispatch trains if the player is ranked a Dispatcher+. The Dispatcher receives 5 points for each train dispatched, even if the Driver overshoots.
To get points faster by dispatching, it is recommended to join a full server and dispatch trains in busy stations like St Helens Bridge (Group 1) and Edgemead.
Guarding
Guarding trains is a third way to earn points. The player can only guard trains if the player is ranked a Guard+. The Guard receives 5 points for each station the train completes a stop at, even if the Driver overshoots.
Signalling
Signalling will give the Signaller points depending on how many trains are in their zone and the zone being signalled. The base amount ranges from one to three points per minute. Additional points are given for trains in the zone, where the amount of trains is multiplied with a points multiplier ranging from 0.5 to 1.[1] The amount of base points as well as the points multiplier depend on the difficulty of the zone.
After V1.1.3 until Version 1.8, the amount of points given to Signallers for signalling was a fixed amount based on the zone. After the aforementioned update, the points given (per minute) is based on a zone's base points, with extra points granted depending on the traffic of the zone. Due to a bug in Version 1.8, Signallers could then not earn points while signalling until the introduction of the current system in Version 1.8.4 on 25 April 2022.
A well-known method of earning points by signalling without paying any effort is sitting on the Zone A or Zone F without doing anything. This is also known as ‘AFK Signalling’. However, AFK signalling is only permitted in Private Servers.
Sitting in the Zone A/Zone F desks award at least 3 points per minute.
Riding trains
For riding trains, the Passenger receives 1 point for each station the train stops at. It is very inefficient compared to other methods, but it allows gaining points without putting in any effort.
Buying points
Buying points is the only option where players can get points for doing nothing outside of the main menu. They can be done at the points store, which can be opened by pressing the Points & Experience button. The points store cannot be accessed in the main menu. Buying points costs Robux, and the exchange rate is set at 12-25 points per Robux.

Joining events, shifts, etc.
Some of the hosted events and shifts in the SCR Official Discord have points for prizes, though participants must be aged 13+ due to Discord's Terms of Service. In some events in the SCR Discord, a player can also be fined points if the player breaks some rules of the event. However, this is a very rare occurrence.
Usage
There are currently two different things the player can spend points on: trains and routes.
- Trains can cost anywhere from 300 points (Class 707) to 4,500 points (Class 345) with the most common amount being 1,500.
- Routes can cost anywhere from 150 points (e.g. R038) to 1,250 points (R102).
- In the future, players may be able to spend points to purchase advertisements slots on the billboards located around the map.
- As of Version 2.3.4, buying all trains and routes requires a total of 134 225 points.
