Trivia
- From its NGv1 upgrade in V1.3.21 until its NGv3 upgrade in V1.10.10, this train was one of the few trains to not have a yellow front end, the others being the Class 345, the Class 717, the Class 730, the Class 397/0 and the Class 801.
- Just like the Class 730, this train lost its yellow front end with its Next Generation upgrade.
- In V1.10.10, the local door on this train was changed so that it was dependent on which side the doors are opening on the platform: the Guard must use the door with a guard panel next to it (which would be the door that opens first).
- The local door is at the penultimate passenger door if the platform is on the right, and the ultimate passenger door if the platform is on the left.
- When this train first got upgraded to Next Generation, it featured a livery based on TransPennine Express' livery for their Nova3 coaches.
- While the Mk3 coaches received a livery upgrade in V1.6, the locomotive stayed in its original NG livery until V1.7.1.
- After the locomotives' livery got upgraded in V1.7.1, many players have voiced criticism about the overall darkness of the livery and the initial issues with the TOPS number, which was originally written in black colour. The TOPS number was later changed to be written in white colour instead.
- Many players started referring to this train as the "Oreo" as the white Mk3 coaches in between the two dark-liveried locomotives remind players of these symbols. They also refer to the locomotives as "Darth Vader" sometimes.
- After the locomotives' livery got upgraded in V1.7.1, many players have voiced criticism about the overall darkness of the livery and the initial issues with the TOPS number, which was originally written in black colour. The TOPS number was later changed to be written in white colour instead.
- Due to a coding limitation, both locomotives used to have the same unit number before Version 2.1, despite being different units.
- This train used to have a unique Stepford Connect livery.
- Before Version 2.3, R026 (Stepford Victoria <> Llyn-by-the-Sea) and R036 (Willowfield <> Llyn-by-the-Sea) were exclusive to this train and the Class 444.
- Before this train got upgraded to Next Generation, it was not able to be driven on R004 (St Helens Bridge <> Edgemead).
- Before V1.6, this train was unable to terminate at Stepford UFC, Berrily and Stepford Airport Central.
- When the ability to change routes at terminals was first introduced, it became possible to drive this train on all of the routes using this new function.
- The glitch was quickly patched, but many people took advantage of it and posted pictures of this train at Stepford Airport Central.
- This also resulted in some other trains operating the then-exclusive R009 (Stepford Victoria <> Edgemead) route.
- Prior to V1.10, this was one of the four most expensive trains in SCR, at 3,000 points.
- The other ones were the Class 43, the Class 387 and the Class 802.
- After the aforementioned update, the Class 345 beat that record with 4,500 points.
- This was changed again in V2.1, the Class 390 beats the record with
1,000 (=15,000 points), as all other trains can be directly purchased by Robux with the price of less than
500 (=7,500 points).
- However, it is still the most expensive Stepford Connect train, alongside with Class 156.
- This train had the lowest class number in the game until the introduction of the Class 43 in V1.4.
- The Class 08 has the lowest class number overall. However, it is only used for scenery.
- Before the NGv3 upgrade, this used to be the only train not to feature any PIS along with the Class 143.
- However, the Class 143 has destination boards outside the train, which Class 68 did not.
- Before V1.6, if stopping at East Berrily and Beaulieu Park, the announcement would say that the doors in coach 4 would not open, even though this train only has 3 passenger coaches.
- Since V1.8, the platform announcer would say that passengers for stations with short platforms should travel in the front 4 coaches, even though this train only has three passenger coaches. The same thing applies to the HST with 8/9 Mark 3 Coaches.
- This train and the Class 43 are the only trains in the game to have slam doors, separate locomotives and Mark 3 Coaches.
- They are also the only trains to feature a bar in one of the coaches.
- This is one of the three trains that requires experience to unlock, in this case, at 200 XP. The others being the Class 345 and the Class 156.
- Class 68 locomotives can be seen parked at Trinity Way TMD, Winstree Lane TMD, Leighton City, Millcastle Racecourse, Llyn-by-the-Sea, near Coxly Station Carriage Siding (Bypass), Faymere Green TMD, Elmstead Park Carriage Siding, Melrose Depot, and Esterfield TMD.
- Additionally, three Stepford Connect Mk3 coaches, which are identical to the ones that make up this train, can be seen at Faymere Green TMD.
- Elmstead Park Carriage Siding and Esterfield TMD are the only spawn locations with a Class 68 locomotive not to be used by Stepford Connect, as both of them are used by Waterline, and Elmstead Park Carriage Siding is also used by Stepford Express.
- Many players have criticised this train for its unfavourable and repetitive sounds, alongside its third livery choice.
- Instead of stopping at the 3-car stop markers, players need to stop at the 5-car ones because of the two locomotives (3 coaches + 2 locomotives). This is why the "Due to a short platform, passengers for Woodhead Lane should travel in the front 4 coaches. This train is formed of 3 coaches" is run if driving on Whitefield Connect routes.
- In the future, this train may receive a Driving Van Trailer at one end[1]. The use of top-and-tail formation at the time of its introduction was likely due to coding limitations that forced both ends of a train to have completely-identical cab units.
- If a driving van trailer is introduced, it may be a Mark 3 DVT or a Mark 5A Driving Trailer, as these are used on Chiltern Railways services alongside Class 68 locomotives.
- In Version 2.3, the Class 91 was introduced with a functioning DVT, fueling speculation that the Class 68 would receive one in the near future, and opening the door for further locomotive-hauled passenger trains such as the Class 67 (which runs with Mark 4 carriages and a DVT on Transport for Wales's Premier Service).
- After the rescale in V2.0, there was a noticeable gap between the rails and the wheels on the Mark 3 coaches of this train, due to the bogies being too small to fit on the tracks. This was fixed in V2.0.1.
- The "Door Unlocked" indicators will light up when the doors are open, and will shut when the doors are locked.
- This train, along with the Class 701, Double Class 397, and Class 345 are the only few trains in the game to not be based off of any real-life configuration.
- Along with that, this train, the Double Class 397, and Class 345 are the only few trains in game to have this instance while still in service.
