Trivia
- The Class 331 was the first Civity train to be added to SCR.
- This class looks similar in design to the Class 195 on Waterline, however, the Class 195 is a diesel multiple-unit (DMU), has 2 or 3 coaches and lacks a pantograph.
- This train was the last "paper train" to be added to the game. All trains introduced afterwards were Next Generation.
- This train was added in celebration of three million visits to SCR, and as such, the 331/0 units had a special livery to commemorate it. This was similar to the Class 730's livery prior to V1.5, which celebrated one million visits, the Class 755/3's livery prior to someday in April/May 2021 (in an unofficial patch), which celebrated five million visits, and the Class 221's livery prior to V1.8.3, which celebrated ten million visits.
- Many players agree that this train was rushed when it was released as a paper train, which would explain the somewhat poor texturing. The fact that this train was rushed meant that something big was coming to the game, as BanTech stated that "exciting updates were coming" to SCR. The Class 158 Next Generation train was soon revealed to be this "exciting update."
- The NG model of the Class 331 was originally made by former Product Developer OverheadWires, as seen in a showcase of trains he had made for SCR before he resigned. However, the model seen in the sneak peek seems to be made by Mattyx2013. This model then later appeared (as a paper train) in the game Terminal Railways.
- Before this train got the NG update, the door chimes were similar to the Class 707. The door chimes are now similar to the Class 195, Class 345, Class 385, Class 397, Class 720, Class 730, Class 745, Class 755 and the Class 756.
- Before the Class 331/0's Next Generation upgrade, it had grey doors, it then had turquoise doors, then in Version 1.6 both of the Class 331 variants were given the standard Stepford Connect door livery (white doors at the very front and very back of the train, and black doors in the middle).
- In real life, these trains, along with the Class 195 (and other Civity trains), have destination boards on the side of the train, but they weren't added until the Civity trains got their NGv3 upgrade.
- In addition, the side destination boards on the 195s and 331s now also scroll to show the next stop, however this is unlikely to come to SCR currently due to scripting limitations.
- This train, the Class 195, the Class 220 and the Class 221 were the only trains in SCR to have the SCR logo on the front of the train. The SCR Logo was added when this train was upgraded to Next Generation.
- On V1.8.3, the SCR logo on the Class 220 and 221 was replaced with the operator logo (Stepford Express), and then alongside with the Class 195 were the only trains carrying the SCR logo at the front.
- In V1.9.1, the logo was removed with the train's mesh update, and now trains carrying the SCR logo is now only legacy.
- Even after this train got its NG upgrade, you could still see parts of the rushed texturing on both variants. When this train was upgraded to NGv3, the rushed parts of it were fixed.
- Before Version 1.8.1, this train in SCR did not sound like its real life counterpart. Since the sound update it has improved, however there are still some incorrect aspects such as the whine of the motor only playing on acceleration and not deceleration.
- In real life it's mostly common to see Class 331/0's doubled up on most lines to increase capacity. When the community was waiting for the Class 331 to get upgraded to NGv3, there was speculation that there could be a double variant, as 6 coach trains are possible on Stepford Connect as seen on the Class 717.
- Although this did not happen on the Class 331, its sister, Class 195/2 was added to Stepford Connect, with a double variant making up 4 cars.
- The Class 331/1 replaced the Class 350 as having the Trainbow livery, also known as the "Pride Train Livery" in Version 1.6.
- Because of the pride livery, some people refer to it as the “Gay train”.
- The variant that had the special livery switched from the 3-car Class 331/0 to the 4-car Class 331/1 in V1.6.
- On 22 May 2022, Former Managing Director Charlie_RBX sneak peeked the mesh upgrade of the Class 331/1 along with a double unit Stepford Connect Class 195 which also received a mesh upgrade.
- In the NGv3 update, the local door on this train was changed so that it was dependent on which side the doors are opening on the platform, the Guard must use the door with a guard panel next to it (which would be the door that opens first).
- The Class 331 is one of only five trains to be added in-game prior to entering service in real life. These five trains include the Class 720, the Class 701, the Class 730 and the Class 398.
